1月20日 India - CynosureThere it is. Obama became the 44th president of US. I sneaked out to the cafeteria and watched his first speech as US president. Once I was back at my desk the first thing I wanted to do was to see the stock market behave. Interestingly it lost almost 330 points. Let see how things improve in the next 100 days of this administration.
I am annoyed by some people’s interest in my life. I had to take down pictures from my blog and networking sites due to unnecessary rumors and gossip. Just because of a few I cannot share my experiences in life with everyone around. Well hopefully things will change and people will get wiser. It’s a learning process, I am a part of it and so will be others.
The last 15 days have been stressful and weird. My paycheck for 5th Jan didn’t arrive till yesterday; it was lost in the mail so they had to re-send it. Now things look a lot brighter and easier. I am done with all my work in Little Rock but Linda wants me to stay for 6 more months.
A couple of weeks back a day before Golden Globes I watched Slumdog Millionaire. It was refreshing, tight and real Mumbai. Though I did not like the way this movie ended but some how I cannot not like the ending either. My favorite moments in the movie were the kid jumping in the goo, kids being blinded, American showing what America was? Riots and how he remembers what lord Ram had in his hand, Taj Mahal and lot of small scenes. When SRK went to Golden Globes to give away Best Picture to Slumdog there was a part of me thanking him to what he undid what Aishwarya Rai did (she looked so fake annoying and ignorant. Eg: David Letterman show). He had grace, he showed good sense of Humor and more over he looked like a popular star.
For some reason I think 2009 had an Indian theme in the world. The success of Chandrayan-1, the first Golden Globe to an Indian (Rahman) and the movie, the terror attack in Mumbai, The Indo-US nuclear pact, India winning the Tests in cricket, Olympic gold, Anand in Chess etc. Well may be not in every thing but for some reason I felt it was the place things were happening and everyone was looking at India.
